All about me……

I am a self taught artist with a passion to paint. Although I have had no formal training, eccentricity and creativity fills my gene pool. My mother and father, both renowned artists, instilled a desire in me to be expressive… to draw, paint, doodle, embellish and write on anything and everything I could find. In growing up, a painted sofa or a rhinestone embellished television set was the norm. I never had a chance!

I started painting mermaids about six years ago as a means to escape worry, stress, loss, and well, sometimes the kids. It was a great excuse to hang out in the garage (alone) with my tools, my paint and a glass of wine. I never imagined I would become a ‘professional artist’ but through the urgings of my friends to start selling my paintings and through the urgings of my children to stop giving my mermaids away, I hung my first show on a huge pink wall in a local gallery. It was then that I stepped out of myself and into my dream.

My mermaids are born from the playfulness that fills my life. Their colors inspired by my hometown, Destin, Florida, an artsy and eclectic beachside community located along the Florida Panhandle. Most of my paintings contain words… some from song lyrics, some from books (mostly self-help!) and others from my own heart. My mermaids like to play, be a little funky and inspire happiness in those who see them.

I reside in Destin, Florida, and my paintings can be seen in my gallery located at Artists at Gulf Place in Santa Rosa Beach, local stores, restaurants, bars, my studio and the walls of many friends (old and new!).
